With CoG signing for Brighton NC will now turn his attention to Chris Wood of Leicester and Sam Winnall of Scunthorpe as main targets.

Red1blades

1.) I work with Chris Wood's girlfriend and can categorically say that's a none starter. He's no interest of joining any league 1 side.

2.) How can you work with his girlfriend?? she is nigel pearsons daughter and does not work

try harder next time pal

3.) If i'm being honest I don't think he will bring anyone in. he has diego, baxter and murphy along with Porter and McNulty so I think NC will try to cultivate a partnership there until if as expected Evans returns.

4.) I am thinking the same, do we really need a striker if McNulty turns out as good as Scoogs and Baxter and Diego looking good this year with Baxter a lot fitter and quicker and Diego looking like he's recovered and pushing for a first team spot himself. I recon we could sign Mason Bennett on loan until January when Ched is likely to return as Clough loves him

5.) Im a big fan of baxter and Diego but I can't see either of them scoring 20+ goals, also think mcnulty will need time to settle and won't feature to much this season. A proven goal scorer is a must for securing promotion

6.) 21 Jul 2014 12:03:35
Sorry for being a bit thick but I thought Ched was coming back in July. As not heard anything for a while wondered if it had fallen through with all the oposition to him coming back!! Do we actually know he will be returning or is it all just talk. I personally hope he does from a football point of view as we need a good striker its been a while since we had one!!.

7.) I can't picture Chris wood stepping into league one, he would be a great loan signing but I just can see it happening, Sam Winnall however is a more realistic signing plus he was top goal scorer in league two with 23 goals in 42 appearances

8.) Hearing rumours at the Blackpool end that we're after our 4th signing from the and that is striker Steve Davies

9.) Ched is not released until october and even if we do offer him a contract, he's not played or seriously trained for over 2 years, so how long will it take him to regain match fittness and will he even be the same payer he was before? personally can't see blackpool letting any more players go until they bring some in

10.) Ched won't be released until at the earliest October so that means at least a couple of months required to get into the swing I think.

11.) 21 Jul 2014 22:07:56
It is a fact that Ched has been under an intense fitness regime while in prison. And he has been practicing football whilst he's been in jail

12.) 21 Jul 2014 23:24:01
Thanks peeps. Just thought he was coming out on Day release in July to train with squad. Sure I read that somewhere. def need another striker then as Porter not up to it, Diego still very young and raw, baxter not actually a striker and mcnulty injured and unproven. Still were going to win league, Who needs strikers come on you red and white wizaaaaaaaaaaaaaaards

13.) Ched may be on day release, and if he was, do you think the club would be dumb enough to let him train at shirecliffe? Reporters would be swarming the place. Kids attend the place with their families and other business is conducted there aswel. It would attract too much negativity. let's think about it guys!

14.) Ched was 'supposed to be coming to us on day release to sign a 18k per week contract' but our now co chairman Jim Phipps rubbished them rumours when they circulated in the papers. Saying that the source of that story was in no shape or form connected to Sheffield United.

Apparently it was sourced by somebody close to Ched, clearly trying to get clubs interested in his services once he's released.

He definitely won't be the same player straight away, training in prison is nowhere near a good enough standard to come into professional football. Especially under Clough's strict training regimes.

Harrison McGahey has signed a two year deal with us with the option of a third. Expect one more permanent deal to be concluded early next week and kieron Freeman on a season long loan to be announced. That'll be it for this transfer window. Clough stated he doesn't want a massive squad, wanting quality over quantity and that all transfer deals to be nearly complete at the start of pre season

Red1blades

1.) So no striker?

2.) 04 Jul 2014 16:37:18
Rumours on twitter we're still trying to bring 1 in, hopefully be anounced next week.

3.) We have a few strikers is it enough we have mcnulty, porter, Baxter, de giramarlio and Ironside it's not that bad we only play one up front anyway

4.) 04 Jul 2014 17:38:37
Doubt McGahey will count in the squad, will be in the reserves with Kennedy. Not a bad pairing for the U21's though.

5.) For everyone complaining about lack of strikers (even though we have already brought one in & both the manager & senior officials at the club are telling us that we are on with the search for another) please read James Shield's article in Sheffield Telegraph today. Sums up why we aren't just rushing to buy, deals take time and certain deals at other clubs can make people available that we didn't think would be. Keep the faith, plenty of time until the season starts and Clough has steered us well so far!

6.) During the window we could of had sammon sharp ogrady derbyshire hitchcock mccloud vukic and we let 2 striker's go and replace them with one unproven one and one clough doesn't really want as his main man. Bristol city have 2 good strikers so do orient prston have 1 barnsley have 1 we have the best team in the division up until the forward line (so far) but we won't finish top 2 without 2 not 1 top strikers ( hoping ched will be the answer would be a mistake)

7.) How can you say we could have had these players? Where have they gone, don't think many of them have moved on? A few in higher divisions and those in the same division won't come cheap. Would you be happy if we sold to a club in the same division, ie Macdonald from last season. Very silly to say we could have had these players. We won't spend silly money for no reason and nor should we. It will happen and it could be one of those players you listed but forwards are valuable commodities and deals don't happen as quickly. And Ched is definitely not the answer!!

8.) Firstly let me spell it out so you don't feel its silly. ALL of the above strikers are/were available the end of last season or during this window. Is it silly to suggest we can't match the wages of Rotherham MKDons and Crawley for out of contract strikers and we also missed Chuks Aneke who is now overseas we could afford all these strikers maybe only billy sharp would stretch us. However credit for understanding ched isn't the answer lol

9.) All piping up about no striker, he's built a squad of containing the ball, its pretty obvious what he's next step is. united started the spending early.
9 June – 31 August not even half way through it yet and already bought a new team. all will come in good time, would even put money on it if I could.

10.) Thank you for spelling it out to me A81 but half the strikers you named are still at there respective clubs (Sharp, Sammon, O'Grady) I'm pretty sure they are all under contract so only available if their clubs want them to leave which might only apply to Sharp.

Derbyshire has gone to the Championship, which is understandable because footballers want to play at the highest level. It's not just about matching wages, like Clough said we don't want to sign players that are just after the money, it's short sighted.

You are calling McNulty unproven but again I'm pretty sure he has played and scored in Scotland, I'm no fan of Scottish football but it still counts. Not to mention Clough wanted him at Derby so maybe it's not the gamble you are suggesting.

Never rated McCloud and he is a bit of journey man now anyway. You sound like you are more bothered about getting any player in than getting the right player in.

So yeah I stand by my original statement that it is silly to say we could have had all those players!

Glad we agree on Ched though and hopefully we will sign another forward soon but I'm pretty sure the same people will still find something else to complain about!

Growing rumours about Marcello Trotta as Fulham look to offload the Italian striker and brentford have cooled their interest. Also the new home kit is to be mainly white with red pin stripes and black shorts, set to be unveiled in the next few days

Red1blades

1.) Buy the shirt at xmas £30 cheaper and Trotta wouldn't get 20 goals

2.) Don't know whether Trotta is any good or not, but playing for Fulham will mean his wages will be sky high and possibly why Brentford have pulled the plug

Also, the white shirt with red pinstripes is the exact opposite to the latest rumours which is the traditional thick red and white stripes

3.) The new kit will NOT be mainly white with red pinstripes and that comes from someone who works within the club. Such a departure from recent styles would alienate to many fans they fear.

4.) 26 Jun 2014 19:51:39
Brayford is going to stay at cardiff

13 Jun 2014 01:19:04
We have made an enquiry about the availability of jermaine beckford.

Red1blades

1.) Hillarious of course we have.

2.) Beckford doesn't fit the Clough criteria imo

3.) Hardy ha ha beckford joining us in league wan. ? Not going to happen mercenary and we've no real cash. outa our league. literally

4.) His attitude would fail the 'Clough Test' so I seriously doubt this.

5.) Clough test haha don't make me laugh he wants ched back so I wonder is this an IQ test or something

Chris O'grady and Harrison Mcgahey both to sign early next week. The Kieron Freeman deal is off so clough is turning his attention back to Brayford however cardiff are reluctant to sell at present.

Three new players to be announced before next week. Harrison Mcgrahey transfer is 99% complete. Chris O'grady in advanced talks and Luke Freeman is set for a six month loan with the option of extending it.

Red1blades

1.) Clough has said on Radio Sheffield that Derby will not let Freeman go out on loan, they want to sell him, Clough doesn't feel that he is ready to pay a transfer fee for him. He said he was now looking at alternatives.

2.) Guessing you mean Kieron? Isn't going to happen anyway until Derby sign a new RB.
